JOSE LUIS GOMEZ PERALES

(Madrid, 1923-Buenafuente del Sistal, Guadalajara, 2008)

Between the fifties and the seventies, the work of José Luis Gómez Perales (Madrid, 1923-Buenafuente del Sistal, Guadalajara, 2008) explores color, structure and construction. From the experimentation in the fifties of a world frequented by curves and stains, reminiscent of the Mironian or the work of Paul Klee (constellation of signs, presence of grids, primary colors), he will slide a decade later towards works of a more reticular aspect, more ordered and modular, in which a constant dialogue between the horizontal and the vertical can be guessed.

Likewise, Gómez Perales will be one of the first creators who will dare to introduce mathematical calculations in the composition of plastic works, forming part of the Calculus Center of the Complutense University of Madrid between 1969 and 1973.
