When we talk about leisure in the Alaior district, there is one venue that stands out and is known far beyond the island: the famous Cova d’en Xoroi. These stunning caves over the bay of Cala en Porter house a discotheque and chillout bar, where you can enjoy one of the finest sunsets on the island. Here are a few more great leisure options for you.
Leisure and fun
Enjoy your free time in Alaior
Cova d’en Xoroi
The magic of the moon over the cliffs
The cave that is the most visited in Menorca is the famous Cova d'en Xoroi, with various terraces and lookout points on different levels. Set in the cliffs that overlook the bay, it’s a music bar in the day and a discotheque at night. The best time to go to the Cova d'en Xoroi is in the evening, when you can enjoy magnificent sunsets over the Mediterranean with relaxing chillout music. There are different international artists or DJs at the discotheque every night, and Thursdays are known for their famous foam parties.
Es lloc de Menorca (Menorca Zoo)
Enjoy Menorca’s fauna
Discover Menorca’s indigenous flora and fauna plus a great variety of species from around the world. Take a walk among ducks, goats, sheep, cattle, pigs, rabbits, Macaque monkeys, kangaroos, lemurs, ostriches and over 100 other species. There is also a small museum where you can view an exact reproduction the full array of the island’s wild mushrooms, and a large map of Menorca showing all our sandy beaches. Wander through a huge 600 m2 aviary surrounded by authentic nature. Small children can enjoy petting and feeding the animals in a special area. There is a bar and a souvenir shop that sells artisan craftwork and food made in Menorca.
Live music
Guaranteed fun all year round
Throughout the year there are a large number of performances, concerts of pop, rock or jazz. As if that were not enough, popular karaoke sessions are also organized, or an original drive-in cinema, the only one on the island.
Children’s playgrounds
Fun for children
If there’s one place that little children enjoy it’s a playground, and Alaior has plenty of them! They are in the Industrial Estate’s park, the square Plaça des Ramal, the Plaça Nova, the street Carrer Indústria, Dalt Sant Pere Nou and Cala en Busquets... Check all of them out at the Tourist Office or just take a walk around and you’ll come across them! Cala en Porter also has four children’s playgrounds and there are three between Son Bou and Torre-solí, so you have plenty of options!
