Eduardo Arroyo

Madrid (1937-2018)

Eduardo Arroyo is considered one of the main artists of narrative figuration, whose work stands out for its scathing capacity for social and political denunciation.

He studied at the French Lyceum, at the Institute of Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, but after finishing his training at the School of Journalism he decided to settle in Paris fleeing Francoist Spain.

Using both drawing and collage, his work oscillates between humour and the fight against the Franco regime . Persecuted several times in Spain, his figuration tinged with pop art is not recognized in his country until 1982 when he obtains the National Prize for Plastic Arts.
