Eugènia Aloy
Valencia, 1973
She got a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in painting, at the Valencia Politecnic University, also completing a stay at Southampton Solent University in 1996 to research.
In 1997 she had her first solo show in the now disappeared Postpos Gallery (which is currently called Rosa Santos). The following year, hew work was awarded a prize in the José Segrelles National Painting Competition. She took part in several collective exhibitions and was selected in the Painting Prize at the Universidad of Murcia, and also at the City of Albacete Bienal of Plastic Arts.
In the last years, she maintains a very discreet presence in exhibitions, although she has not abandoned creation.
The project “The domestication of the snakes”, carried out in collaboration with Ogami Press, allowed her to link drawing and engraving. This project was presented in Multiplied London and was on show at the Ogami Press gallery in 2013.
At the moment she continues working at techniques that enable her to explore the possibilities of drawing and painting, related with engraving. Her last works are done with a more direct technique, dry point, a technique used in this self portrait with which she develops the characteristics of immediateness and expressiveness in the drawing.
